Social Anxiety & Me

This post has been in the pipeline for months but I’ve kept putting it off. I just really didn’t (and still don’t) know where to begin. I’ll probably do a few different posts on this topic as there are so many elements and things affected by it.

Back in Autumn 2016 I was finally officially diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder, also sometimes called Social Phobia – looking back, I believe I have had it most of my life, probably since starting school as a small child. I had suspected for a couple of years prior to being diagnosed that I might have it and had researched and done various self-diagnosis tests which all said I did have quite a severe case of it. I didn’t want to be one of those ‘self-diagnosed hypochondriacs’ though so I just kept it to myself and carried on as I was, getting on with my course at university and, as I now realise, avoiding as many things as I possibly could that triggered my anxiety.

The catalyst to finally getting help and seeking a diagnosis was a conversation with my mum. She found me in my room crying after my sister, who didn’t mean any malice by it, asked why I was getting a lift to my friend’s house rather than driving myself. It was a good question. I passed my driving test first time in September 2012 but didn’t drive again for 4 years whilst I was at university. I started driving again once I’d left university in June 2016 and by September I had been practising my driving with my parents (with P plates on the car) but had yet to drive anywhere on my own. There was more to it than just a case of needing to get a feel for it again. I was very anxious before every drive and the thought of driving alone terrified me. A small part of it was fearing I might crash or hurt someone else but the thing that bothered me most was what other people were thinking of me. Did they think I was a good driver? What if I made a mistake, will they be angry at me? Will they beep at me? What if I panic and don’t know where I’m going and that annoys someone? Am I going too slow for them? I felt extremely self-conscious when I could see the driver behind me in my mirror – what were they thinking, was I doing anything wrong?

I have since learned that these thoughts are all classic Social Anxiety.

I was also struggling with searching for jobs, I was so picky of anything that sounded too high pressure or would require lots of social interaction (unfortunately for me a lot of jobs do) and just the thought of scrolling through career sites and reading job descriptions was enough to get my heart racing, temperature up and lose my appetite (it still does and I’m still not working but I’m hoping to start some volunteering next week). My mum encouraged me to get in contact with IAPT, where you can self-refer yourself without going through your GP. I might talk about the process of that and how I’m getting on with it in another post – please let me know if that’s something you’d be interested to read!

Rather than explain myself what Social Anxiety is and why anxiety happens, here are a couple of really helpful sheets that the therapist gave me. The one which talks about Social Anxiety I found incredibly relatable and it was quite a relief to know it wasn’t just me! The other sheet explains the Fight or Flight Response which is essentially what our body is going through when we experience anxiety in response to a perceived danger. So for people with anxiety disorders, they are experiencing exactly the same feelings when they face their trigger as they would if face to face with a tiger or bear.

Info sheet -What is Social Anxiety?

Info sheet – The Fight or Flight Response

It’s important to remember that absolutely everyone with an anxiety disorder experiences it differently as we all have different triggers and thought processes. It’s also important, especially for those without an anxiety disorder, to know that yes, we all do experience anxiety in life but having an actual disorder is different. Getting nervous before an interview or exam does not mean you can relate to someone with an anxiety disorder. As supportive as my friends and family have been, sometimes when I talk about things that make me incredibly fearful and they respond with “oh yeah, I get like that sometimes too” it can feel incredibly devaluing and like my anxieties are being trivialised. So, if someone does open up about their anxiety disorder please be mindful not to invalidate their struggles by trying too much to relate or empathise with them. The worst thing is feeling like you’re making a big fuss out of nothing and that everyone else in the world is just getting on with it and you’re not trying hard enough – that’s how I’ve felt for years.

I’ll touch upon some of my particular triggers. I could never possibly pin point or describe them all but I can think of some: being the centre of attention, being watched while I do something, meeting new people, talking to or being around authority figures, answering or making telephone calls, driving somewhere new by myself, bumping into someone and having to make small talk etc etc. The thoughts behind the situations that make me anxious tend to revolve around what other people think about me. I worry I might embarrass myself or make a mistake. I’m also very preoccupied with being liked and not being thought of in a negative way so I exhaust myself trying to keep up appearances and make sure everyone around me is happy and couldn’t possibly have anything bad to say about me. Constantly smiling and laughing is tiring when you’d rather be alone in bed with your cat.

I thought about going through all the stages of my life and writing about everything I struggled with throughout school, sixth form, employment and university up to now. That could be another post entirely though so please let me know if you’d find it helpful and/or interesting to read that too. It’d probably be interesting to write tbh because there’s probably a lot of things I did/avoided that at the time I didn’t realise was because of this disorder I had.

I’m still coming to terms with the whole ‘disorder’ thing! I don’t like thinking there’s something ‘wrong’ with me, as far as I’m concerned this is just me and this perspective is all I’ve ever known, and now apparently a lot of it is warped and wrong and unhelpful. But it’s held me back enough in my life so far so I guess the sooner I can overcome it the better. At this stage I’m not confident I’ll ever be ‘cured’ as such, but I do think I can learn to deal with it and slowly push myself, as I have already been doing.

Please let me know if you’d like a post on my therapy experience with IAPT and how it all works. And also if you’d like to read about my specific experiences and struggles from childhood up to now before I knew I ‘officially’ was a socially anxious human.

Things I’ve Been Loving Lately

I thought it’d be nice to share a few things I’ve been loving and enjoying recently! As well as beauty products, I’ve got a few more ‘lifestyle’ things to share too. Let’s start of with the beauty bits first though!

anastasia beverly hills modern renaissance palette boots botanics radiance balm the body shop honey bronzer collection lasting perfection concealer b clean melting gel cleanser

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette (£41) (read my dedicated review and see swatches of it here)

I’m so happy that I don’t regret purchasing this! With the high price-tag I was worried it wouldn’t be worth it but it really is a gorgeous palette and I reach for it a lot whenever I’m wearing makeup that day. I’d say my most used shades are Buon Fresco, Raw Sienna and Warm Taupe.

Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm (£2.50)

I bought this stuff on a bit of a whim as I had an offer on my Boots Advantage card for triple points on a purchase from the Botanics range. This was super affordable and I had read a couple of positive comments about it on other girls’ blogs. I really like this stuff! It’s very fluid so you only need the tiniest bit to cover your entire face. Lately I’ve been using it on no makeup days for some extra hydration or as a primer under makeup to likewise add some hydration but also some glow! It feels very cooling on the skin and for the price I think it’s a lovely product to use.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer Bronzing Powder 01 (£14)

This is such a beautiful bronzer! My Nars Laguna bronzing powder (which is gorgeous) is running low so I wanted something in stock ready for whenever that runs out. However rather than using up Laguna first like I intended I keep reaching for this Body Shop one instead! I was worried it would be too light and unnoticeable on my skin as I chose to buy the lightest shade but it turned out to be just what I hoped. I don’t really like a super deep, orangey bronze on me, especially when I’m pale after Winter so this is a perfect shade that just gives me some colour and definition without being too much. A separate review and swatch is on my to-do list!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Fair 1 (£4.19)

I still love this concealer so much! I’ve tried the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and I still prefer this one over both of them! It does have similarities with the Nars one but considering the price difference I still have to say I prefer Collection’s. I use this under my eyes, down the nose, on my chin and on the centre of my forehead and blend it in with a damp Beauty Blender.

B. Clean Melting Gel Cleanser (£6.99)

I bought this when it was on offer for a crazy good price to use as my next makeup removing cleanser once the current one was finished. I am loving formulas like this at the moment! I remove my eye makeup separately and then use this to remove my base by applying some to my dry face and massaging it all over to melt away the makeup and remove any leftover traces of eye makeup. I then wipe it off with a damp cloth or flannel and it works brilliantly! I’ll then proceed on with a second cleanse with a different product. I wouldn’t use this as my ‘proper’ cleanse, only to remove makeup.

That’s it for beauty products, now a few other favourites!

Chinti & Parker (clothing brand)

This is more of an inspirational favourite as I don’t own or plan to buy anything from this brand. I came across them numerous times on Instagram and I just love their designs, particularly the jumpers! They’re a premium brand that are way out of my price range but I love browsing their Instagram. 🙂

Yoga with Adriene (YouTube Channel)

I have fallen in love with this woman! She’s so soothing and seems to have a wonderful personality. I bought a yoga mat a few months ago but only recently got around to actually using it! I searched ‘yoga’ on YouTube and Adriene’s channel was the first listing so I tried out one of her videos. I’ve now done some yoga every day for the past week and I’m really enjoying it which I must credit partly to Adriene. She has dedicated videos for beginners so there’s no excuse not to give it a try if you’ve ever contemplated taking up yoga. I think it’s going to have a really positive effect on my mental heath too – I hope so anyway!

Mikey Pearce (YouTube Channel)

I bloody love Mikey! I’m an avid viewer of YouTube and came to know Mikey through his cameos in Joe Sugg’s videos. When he made his own channel I had to subscribe because I absolutely loved his personality. He’s so funny and quirky with his ‘posh’  sounding accent and constant exclamations of ‘Corrr’! I think he just comes across very sweet and genuine. My favourite videos are his skits or comedy sketches; they have me laughing out loud. He’s also openly talked about his body insecurities and how he’s trying to work on getting fitter which is very endearing, bless him. I think we often forget about men when we talk about body confidence etc!

And thus ends this post! Thank you for reading and if you have any recommendations or suggestions you think I might like after reading this, please let me know! 🙂

What I Got for My Birthday 2016

Following on from my What I Got for Christmas post, here is a ‘What I Got for My Birthday’ post! My birthday falls on Boxing Day (26th December) so this festive time of year is, understandably, my favourite. Similarly to Christmas, I chose my main presents from my parents and bought them during Black Friday weekend, as well as gifts from my sister and brother lol, so there weren’t too many surprises. Nonetheless, that means I absolutely love everything.

My boyfriend kindly got me these Pink Velvet Boots from Zara that I told him I absolutely loved. They are so beautiful. My brother gave me an Ohh Deer Rose Gold Marble Notebook; Ohh Deer do the most gorgeous designs for stationery. My sister got me this Sass and Belle Copper Jewellery Holder that I wanted and I can’t wait to hang it up somewhere and organise my necklaces. A cute, funny gift from my parents was the How it Works: The Cat (Ladybird for Grown-Ups) Book; one page in particular, which is about food, is so relevant to my little angel cat, Princess (the little diva).

I got some Black Micro Stud Boots from Next as my main present from my parents, along with an amazing Aldo Greenwald bag which really reminded me of something Chanel might design.

I got a The Body Shop Green Tea & Lemon Candle and Room Spray which smells really refreshing and uplifting! I also got a mini Absolut Raspberry Vodka which is kind of funny because I don’t really drink much alcohol anymore so this probably won’t get drunk for some while, when the next rare occasion I go out is!

My boyfriend chose me this book – Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller – which sounds pretty good from reading the blurb! And lastly, he got me such a cute and thoughtful gift which just made me LOL when I unwrapped them – framed pictures of my cat, Princess! I’m ashamed I didn’t have any framed pictures of her already so this was perfect. She is just uh, everything to me <3 .

I was also completely spoilt by the rest of my extended family in terms of money so I will definitely enjoy spending a bit of that on some bits that I can blog about in future 🙂 .

So that’s my gifts received for another year! It’s annoying waiting for Christmas and Birthday to come around but when December hits I know it’s a double whammy ;).

Have a happy and safe New Year whatever you’re doing.

What I Got for Christmas 2016

I’m still not sure exactly where I stand with these ‘What I got for Christmas’ posts and videos; I get that they are self-indulgent, could come across as boastful and that they fuel the materialism and consumerism of Christmas… All that being said I cannot deny that I do quite enjoy having a nosy at what other people received. As long as you stay grounded and grateful for everything you have yourself and don’t feel inadequate or jealous of everything you see and remember it is just ‘stuff’, then there’s not much harm.

Here’s what I was lucky enough to unwrap this year (a lot of it however wasn’t a surprise as I chose things for my parents to give me xD )!

From my sister I got the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette which I am so delighted to own. So many YouTubers I love (like Jaclyn Hill) really love this palette so I was desperate to try it. I have used the two baked powder shades from the palette so far and, boy, they give some bam highlight! I got two Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks in the shades Kim KW and Very Victoria; I haven’t tried them yet but these will be the first Charlotte Tilbury products I’ve tried. I’m sure I’ll do a blog post on them with some swatches in the New Year. I also got The Body Shop Shower Gel in Pink Grapefruit which smells divine and the Pacifica Island Vanilla Perfume – I really needed to start searching out some cruelty free perfumes so I’m happy I can now try this.

My family knows how much I adore Bambi so my Mum found this gorgeous pair of Bambi PJs from George at Asda! <3 I had wanted a card holder for ages so my brother gave me this amazing pink, shiny, iridescent Monki Cardholder! It’s so pretty, it just makes me think of unicorns. I got some cosy Primark socks and the Sanctuary Spa Candle in Black Rose & Cassis – this one smells just like Diptyque Baies!

As is traditional every year, I got a 2017 Cat Calendar! I am such a cat lady. I also got a Ted Baker Mini Must Haves Set, a variety of delicious smelling Yankee candles and a gorgeous Sass and Belle Double Photo Frame. My Mum also got me the Mindfulness Colouring Book! I’ve said for years I should start doing colouring to help with my mind and anxiety so this was a lovely gift.

My main present was this amazing Olive Green Wool Peacoat from Marks and Spencer. It’s such a lovely fit and just feels so nicely made – I love it. It’s such a good style too, timeless and smart.

Lastly, I got chocolate in abundance to keep me going well into the New Year!

I hope you all had wonderful Christmases and Holidays! I’ll be back soon with a ‘What I Got for My Birthday’!

My Personal & Blog Instagram – Follow Me on Both (if you want)

Just a quick post today to say I think it’d be great if you were to follow me on Instagram 🙂 I have my blog Instagram linked up on this website however I do not have any signpost for my personal Instagram which you might also want to follow. On that one I post day to day things I’ve seen or am doing that is not beauty/fashion related so does not fit on my ‘blog’ Instagram. I have two so as not to spam people I know in real life who follow me with pictures of makeup and clothes hahah, which many of them would probably not be interested in. Not that I post 5 times a day or anything, I’d just rather separate my blog ‘hobby’ from more general things. I love being able to just post whatever on my personal one and it not feel out of place! 🙂 It’d basically just give you more idea of who I am and what I’m doing.

Also, if you’re a cat lover, you might enjoy the account me and my sister set up featuring my cat, Princess, and her cat, Milly. That one is @MillyandPrincess.

My Signature Jewellery

I don’t know about you but I’m pretty low key when it comes to jewellery. I love it, but I don’t change it up very much or buy jewellery very often. I like having quality, reliable pieces that I can wear whatever the outfit, whatever the occasion. Just like you might have a signature scent, I have signature jewellery. If I’m wearing something other than my silver Tiffany pendant then you know some serious outfit planning has happened because usually another necklace doesn’t even come into consideration. I received it from my grandparents for my 18th birthday.

The other piece lives on my wrist permanently and I received it for my 21st birthday from my parents. 🙂 I don’t know if a watch technically counts as ‘jewellery’ but for the sake of this post, it does. It is from Olivia Burton and I still love it so much. It never clashes with anything and it’s just so pretty and classy. I would love to build up a watch collection as I literally wear this one every day, but that could get expensive and this one does perfectly anyway. If I’m not wearing it for some reason there will be countless times I lift my arm and glance at my wrist only to realise doh, it’s not there. Yes, I am a definite ‘watch person’ now.

tiffany new york heart tag silver pendant medium olivia burton rose gold scalloped edge design bracelet watch (3)tiffany new york heart tag silver pendant medium olivia burton rose gold scalloped edge design bracelet watch

If I don’t wear either of these things now I almost feel semi-naked! Like I said, I’m forever looking at my wrist for the watch and I also grab the pendant around my neck and run it along the chain. It’s like a comfort thing, something to do with my hands. So I feel very lost without them!

I don’t wear rings and I’ve never had my ears pierced so I guess I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to jewellery! I would like a nice bracelet though, they’re more up my alley. I did have one that I wore all the time like these two but it broke. :'(

Do you have ‘signature jewellery’?

15 to Follow on Snapchat

I am into Snapchat in a BIG way at the moment. I’m pretty addicted to checking it throughout the day! I love how instant and ‘real’ it can be. Many of the people I follow are YouTubers who obviously heavily edit their videos, whereas Snapchat is so much more informal and relaxed, you feel as if you’re getting a better glimpse at people’s actual lives. I dunno, you obviously still only see what people want you to see (as should be everyone’s right to decide what they do and don’t put online), but it feels like people are more relaxed which is nice. Therefore, I thought I would share some of my favourite people that I follow on Snapchat that may be of interest to some of you 🙂 Their Snapchat username is the bold, pink writing.

Bloggers snapchat

Laura is one of my absolute favourites on Snapchat. She’s so funny and honest. I love how she talks about loving cake-face and fakery and her Eylure 143 obsession. She’s just absolutely brilliant and knows her makeup. She has a real passion for it whilst having a fun personality and I trust what she says. She’s a successful woman living in Dubai with a well-paid job I imagine, so you know she’s not being paid to say shit. If she doesn’t like it, she says.

Another Laura who I’ve only recently followed on Snapchat actually but have followed her blog for a while. She’s a straight-talking makeup artist who also has an adorable cat which means I’m obviously going to love her!

I love Lily’s YouTube channel so I love seeing what she’s up to on a daily basis. I like her personality and find her down to Earth and relatable. If you like Lily’s YouTube channel then she should definitely be interesting to you on Snap.

Stacey – aka ExpatBeautyAddict – I discovered through Laura of ‘BuyNowBlogLater’. Stacey seems SO lovely. Her snaps are very chatty which I love; she seems like the sweetest woman and there’s something I really like about her voice which is probably strange lol. She’s obviously a huge beauty addict so it’s nice to see what she’s enjoying, but also she recently did some snaps about the result of the EU Referendum which were SO interesting and informative (I was gutted at the result 🙁 ). She discussed the financial and economic impact of leaving the EU as it’s within her field of expertise as she works at Barclays (I think?). And she’s also had struggles with illnesses which she’s discussed and made me pretty emosh, she just seems so lovely <3

Amy doesn’t snap that much tbh, not since I’ve followed her anyway, but I just love her. She’s one of my fave bloggers and from her YouTube channel you can tell her personality is just hilarious. Plus she’s so cool and stylish and gorgeous.

I love Anna. Another one of my fave YouTubers, I love the way she does things and find her very creative, innovative and to the point. You can tell she’s a grafter and so organised. I love her snaps.

Another YouTuber I’m a big fan of. Sammi is beautiful and has the sweetest personality. Her snaps of her dogs are often hilarious too. And now she’s pregnant her snaps could be a way to follow her throughout her first pregnancy journey! Aw <3

Chloe Morello is a stunning Australian YouTuber who I’ve followed for a while. She is great and so so funny xD She snaps random things but everything’s interesting because I just love what she has to say and she’s hilarious.

Alessandra is the Beauty Director at Glamour magazine so as you can imagine she lives quite the jealousy-inducing life to any fellow beauty lover. She’s always travelling, has the best voice, looks amazing and is always talking about her favourite products and what she’s using. You’ll also see lots of behind the scenes of new product launches etc which she’s been invited to the events of. Expect lots of skincare and makeup recommendations!

Claire is great but I must say my favourite snaps of hers feature her cat, Bruce. He’s an absolute lad. Love him. But also Claire does great PO box unpacking which I love watching.

Estee has the funniest, most loveable personality! She’s forever interesting and I love her relationship with Aslan and Reggie. They love their dog SO much. Also, “You still making mooooooooooovies?” – absolutely hysterical.

Amelia is gorgeous and I think she’s great, but she’s another one, like Claire, where I’m often watching her snaps hoping that her pet will feature because I bloody love him. Her dog, Duke, is the cutest little pom I have ever seen in my life and I basically cry whenever I see his adorable, happy, fluffy little face. Duke <3

Gabby, of VelvetGh0st is another lovely YouTuber. I find her quite relatable in many ways and now she’s opened up about a lot of things to her viewers I  admire her for how far she’s come and where she is now! What a success. She also has a cat, Nellie, who features a lot too which I obviously love.

Suzie‘s snaps are pretty entertaining and it’s a great supplement to her YouTube channel if you’re a follower of that. I love her style and her makeup is always beautiful. But it’s also nice to see her being bare faced and just chilling or having a moan; it will forever be refreshing and relatable to see people you watch/follow be ‘normal’ like that.

Jaclyn is such a bundle of energy and how frickin successful has she made herself?! What an inspiration. She won’t be everybody’s cup of tea as she’s pretty loud and out there, but I LOVE her. Her snaps are always entertaining and show different sides to her; whether she’s super happy or having a shitty day. #relatable

Kate, formerly known online as gh0stparties, is so funny and sweet. Another one with a hilarious and super cute kitty called Mouse who I love seeing in snaps. And Kate has the greatest laugh, it’s so cute and she finds her boyfriend hysterical so is always laughing at him which is adorable.

I hope you’ve discovered a few new Snapchat accounts to follow 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award

I was very surprised and grateful to be nominated by Lori for something called the Blogger Recognition Award, which was first created by Eve from EveofNight.

Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.

  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post.
  • Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing! (It happens LOL).

Here are my answers!

Why did I start my blog?

I had read blogs for years and years, avidly following them from when I was 17/18 probably. I’d thought about how cool it’d be to have my own but I never felt confident enough at the time to put my own stuff out there. Then in January 2015 I finally decided to bite the bullet and create one. I had not long turned 21 and I was happy in myself and ready to put some content out there. I thought no one may read it, but that doesn’t even really matter. I wasn’t doing it to gain thousands of followers, if that ever happens, brilliant, but fundamentally I made one because I love reading beauty/fashion blogs and I wanted to make my own contribution to the blogging world in the hope some other like-minded people may gain something from it, as I do with others. I’d also never had a ‘hobby’ as such. You know when you get asked what you like to do in your spare time etc, and some may have a sport they play or play an instrument or paint amazing images, for me I just loved shopping. That was my hobby. And I feel blogging is a way for me to slightly ‘validate’ and make something more of this very materialistic hobby, in a part of the internet where many other girls share exactly the same hobby! It’s great.

Advice for new bloggers

I still feel pretty new to it myself. But I think you need to decide what your intentions are with your blog. Will it just be a hobby, a way of sharing purchases, experiences, reviews, holiday snaps etc? If so I think you should be pretty relaxed with it and not get yourself hung up on views and followers. Write about what you want to write about and what inspires you! Read other blogs and get inspiration from what you like to read yourself, what makes you want to follow a blog and which layouts you find the easiest to read.

If however you have intentions to go big with your blog then you probably need to be more organised and focused about it and think about a dedicated posting schedule. Good photography is incredibly important too.

Now I move on to my nominations! You all have amazing blogs:

Alice from AliceGraceBeauty

Charlotte from Charlotte’s Road

Nati from SimplyArtdicted

Molly from Daisily

Caroline from IridescentPlaces

Lauren from Laurens Looks

Anoushka from AnoushkaProbyn

Charlotte from CharlotteSamantha

Holli from HappyGoHols

Grace from GlitterandCarousels

Megan from Lattes&London

Shareena from Forever-You

Emma from thecashabeauty

Christine from YvesChild

Thank you Lori for the nomination and I look forward to reading those who choose to complete this tag 🙂

Love, Nicole xxxx

January is Always a Bit Rubbish

January didn’t really allow much time to think about what to blog. I had three big exams between the 18th-29th and I didn’t want to do anything other than revise; they are my final year exams after all so they’re pretty important! I probably started around the 4th and revised pretty much all day every day until the 29th, just stopping for meal breaks and a couple of YouTube videos when I needed to chill out a bit. It was a super dull, super stressful and super long month for me.

But that Friday 29th couldn’t have come soon enough. I was so happy it was over (until like May where it’ll be the same again). Anyway, that evening I went to see The Libertines play live in Bournemouth and they were so sooo good, so that was a nice way to unwind.

I’m now back into a slightly more relaxed uni timetable for the new term so I think it’s about time I think of some new post ideas I can write about on here 🙂 I’ve got several new beauty products, but I’ve not really formed an opinion on them yet… What I’d really like to do is some outfit posts! So I’m going to have to work on my set up so I can take pictures of myself full length. Hard times. And I’ll have to take advantage of when it’s sunny, otherwise the lighting is so off in my room. Sigh.

I’m pretty sure I probably have enough empties to do another post on them too 🙂 So hopefully it won’t be long until I have a new post up! I don’t want to neglect it much longer 🙁

Meanwhile, follow me on instagram and Twitter!

Best wishes,

My Favourite Vlogmases!

How do you pluralise Vlogmas?! I’m not sure. Anyway, I am loving how many of my favourite YouTubers are filming Vlogmas this year. I’m struggling to keep up a bit if I’m honest! But it usually means I always have something to watch if I’m at a loose end. I thought I’d share my favourite Vlogmases this year so far.

amelia liana vlogmas zoella lily pebbles samantha maria beauty crush louise pentland sprinkle of glitter tanya burr

British YouTube’s golden girl is a joy to watch and she’s so festive that she inspires you to really get into the Christmas spirit. She has an enviable lifestyle since becoming an internet celebrity and it’s fun to watch her enjoying her success and sharing her days, whether she’s off to events or chilling at home. I really don’t like pugs but Nala has grown on me since seeing her personality come out in the daily vlogs; I still think they’re pretty gross though I’m sorry xD I’m also not the biggest fan of boyfriend Alfie (PointlessBlog), there’s something about him that just annoys me a bit (the voice probs), but I think Zoe is great and he’s a part of her life so of course I still enjoy watching their household enjoy the run up to Christmas.

Sprinkle of Glitter

Louiseeee! I love Louise. She has the most wonderful, fun personality. Her words can make the dullest days fun to watch and little Darcy is the cutest child ever. I love when kids are that age, they say the funniest, sweetest things. Everyone should watch Louise.

Amelia Liana

Amelia is another one with a wonderful, positive, cheery personality. I am obsessed with her little pom Duke too, omg every time her comes on screen I’m just like awwwwwww I want one. He’s the happiest dog I’ve ever seen. She did some challenges to raise money for charity during this Vlogmas, and wow, fair play to her, she did really well. They were things that pushed her out of her comfort zone, and most people’s comfort zones I imagine! I did some major cringing for her but she was so brave.

Lily Pebbles

I only started following Lily this year and she’s really grown to be one of my favourites. I like her very real and laidback personality, she’s always saying how she likes to be casual and I can relate to that. Although I do probably like glamming up slightly more than she does… She’s that little bit older which I think means she has a more mature audience, less annoying little girls and silly comments fangirling. This is also probably a lot to do with the way she is and the videos she makes, just less childish and more grown up which is nice!

Tanya Burr

Tanya is another big YouTuber with a happy, infectious personality. She’s quite similar to Amelia with the girly, ditsy personality, it could be annoying, but I find it endearing. I just find Tanya uplifting to watch, she’s a happy one!

Samantha Maria

Sammi is a cool gal. She’s so naturally beautiful and has a sweet personality and great style. It’s nice to see her going about her day, and her boyfriend Jason is pretty involved in filming Vlogmas with her this year. He seems great and they are so nice together, you can see how much they love spending time together, and with their dogs, who are funny! One thing I’m learning from Vlogmas is that I judge dogs too much on their looks haha, Nala the pug and now Sammi’s two dogs, not to my taste but they seem so sweet. Aw. I’ll always be a cat person though.

I am following lots of others, but these are my favourites so far! I always look forward to these guys uploading slightly more than others…  🙂

Best wishes,
