Spring and Summer ASOS Haul

A cheeky 20% student discount cropped up on ASOS last week so as always, that’s my cue to go and purchase many of the things lurking in my ‘Saved for Later’ section.

The majority of the pieces I would say are more Spring/Summer appropriate. Despite probably preferring Autumn/Winter fashion slightly more, it is nice to not have to wear a coat every day once summer hits! I have a new thing where I always check what fabrics clothing is made from when I consider purchasing. Especially for summer clothes I’m trying to avoid things like polyester and go for things made out of cotton! Cotton is a breathable fabric as it’s natural so I’m hoping to have as much cotton in my summer wardrobe as possible.

I was so happy to finally find an amazing pair of denim shorts! I’ve always loved them on other people but I’ve never felt comfortable in them myself. I don’t love my legs, I feel my thighs are pretty chunky and wobbly, so denim shorts have been tricky. However, I found an amazing pair from Noisy May’s Tall range! Because they’re from the tall range they’re a much better length in my opinion! Partly why I tend to feel uncomfortable in denim shorts is because they’re generally so short! Also, they’re not turned up at the end or anything, they’re just loosely cut off so they’re not tight against your thigh. I find this so much more flattering on me and I love them. I’m definitely planning on purchasing them in black. Purchasing shorts from the Tall range is definitely a winner for me.

I forgot to photograph this gorgeous stripy sundress but you can see how nice it is from the ASOS website image anyway. 100% cotton too! 😉 <3

I was so happy with everything – kind of annoyed I didn’t want to send anything back because I spent way too much but I guess I probably would’ve ended up buying these things at some point anyway so it’s good I got them with the 20% discount!

I hope you liked what I picked out! Anything catch your eye?

20% Discount ASOS and Topshop Haul

Yes, Nicole’s been reeled in by the discounts again and done some online shopping. ASOS did a 20% student discount and I had a 20% off for my birthday Topshop code about to expire. Let’s just get into it shall we. 🙂

From ASOS…

ASOS Premium Rain Mac With Borg Liner (£55)
Nocozo Tonal Stripe Jersey Top (£18)
ASOS Supersoft Long Woven Scarf With Tassels (£12 each) Pink and Dusty Mauve

The ASOS Rain Mac is amazing quality! It just feels so cool, I love this material so much and will kind of looking forward to the rain if I can chuck this on and be smug about staying dry. As for the striped t-shirt, I live in them and I liked this colour combination so I’m sure it’ll gets its wear. I realised I have hardly any scarves so I bought these two in beautiful colours and I love them – very big and snuggly.

Now what I got from Topshop…

Frill French Stripe Top (£18)
Metallic Pleated Jersey Skirt (£34)
Broderie Detailed Hybrid Top (£7 in the sale!)
Femme Liberte T-Shirt (£15)
MOTO Dark Grey Leigh Jeans (£38)

I love this metallic pleated skirt – isn’t it a gorgeous colour?! It is a bit long and ideally I wish it was available in the Petite range but I will make it work. I got an array of easy to wear t-shirts and tops just because that’s what I like to throw on most days really! And after a wardrobe clear-out I wasn’t left with that many t-shirts. I’m trying to buy clothing made from better quality materials now so I always check labels and avoid polyester as much as I can and look for cotton. I also got a dark grey pair of Leigh jeans, which used to be my favourites before they were overtaken by the Jamie style but now I think they’re my favourites again. The Jamie style just sucks my tummy in a bit too much and I hate that so I feel like Leigh jeans give my belly more room 🙂 .

Have a lovely Sunday,

Cult Beauty Haul

As you may or may not know, if you have an account with Cult Beauty, they will email you a 15% code to use during your birthday month. I, of course, wanted to take up this offer, and this is what I chose to buy. As with my previous post, this post is mainly just to show you what I’ve bought and I will do some detailed review and swatches posts in future when I’ve tested out the products. 🙂

I absolutely love trying new foundation and I’ve been eager to try Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation (£29.50). Unfortunately, the discount code does not apply to Charlotte Tilbury products (there is a selection of brands that Cult Beauty don’t allow discounts on) so I paid full price still, but for a high end foundation it’s not too badly priced. I found it very difficult to pick a shade and was deliberating for ages on which one to go for. I eventually went for Shade 3 and it’s not an awful match, but it’s not perfect either, I think one of the others may have been better but hey ho, I’ll make it work. I’ve used it a few times and I actually really like it! I’ll explain more in a more dedicated post.

Next, I’d been wanting to try a Zoeva eyeshadow palette for a long time. They have an amazing array of choice, but, trying to sensible I tried to think what I was lacking in terms of eyeshadow shades. I realised I had very few cool toned sort of shades, so I ended up going for the En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette (£18). It is such a gorgeous palette and I love the colours!

Lastly, I decided to go for a fancy hair product. I don’t very often invest in hair as I find makeup and skincare much more exciting, but Jen Atkin’s new brand ‘Ouai’ has been all over instagram and the blogosphere so I wanted to give a product a try! My hair is often pretty flat so I thought a texturising spray would be a good choice. I bought the Ouai Texturising Hair Spray (£22). It’s okay so far, but I’m not sure it’s going to live up to my expectations of its high price tag.

A January Space NK Haul

As I also did last January (see what I got in 2016 here), I had a little spendy time on the Space NK website to spend some of my Christmas and Birthday money. This post is just to show you what I got really, but I’ll be sure to do some more detailed posts, with swatches, at a later date when I’ve had a proper play with the products.

Firstly, try as I might I just could not resist the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light (£69). The palette is absolutely stunning and encased in gorgeous marble packaging. It was ridiculously expensive but I have tried one of Hourglass’ powders before (in the shade Diffused Light) and it was gorgeous and I had recently run out of it. So as well as a new setting powder I also get to try some of the ambient lighting blushes, a bronzer and a highlight. So far I am loving it.

Secondly, I had been wanting to try the Amaretto + Prosecco Pop duo of the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Splits (£32) for ages. I was really happy to see it was in stock when I was browsing the Space NK website so it was a must-buy! The packaging, again, is so pretty. It’s the same as their permanent Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlight packaging, however, it has gold casing – so gorgeous! The colour of the blush is lovely and I don’t own anything else like it.

Lastly, because it was on sale for about £24, I bought Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book Vol. 1.0 (£47). I thought it was a good opportunity to try a number of Kevyn Aucoin products as I’d never tried anything from the brand before, and particularly The Sculpting Powder which is a favourite of many. The pans are relatively small so using a big-ish brush can be difficult but I’ll make it work. The ‘book’ comes with some step by step guides which look very helpful and informative as I’m still definitely not a contouring expert.

As I said, I am sure I’ll do separate posts on each of these products in future to give my thoughts on them. Thankfully, so far though, I have no regrets!

Ending Blogtober with a Beauty Haul!

I’ve made it to the end of October and have managed to get a post up every day bar three, which I’m very satisfied with! Having the time and ideas to blog about something everyday is quite a feat and respect to those who do it every day, all year long! If you’d like to catch up on all my Blogtober posts then you can do so here. 🙂

Anyway, onto the haul. I’d actually gotten through most of October with very minimal spending. I think I bought some things at the start of the month and then when it got into the last week of the month my addiction was kicking in and I needed some deliveries to my door. Beauty Bay released a discount code and I knew it was time. Here’s what I got.

beauty bay haul milani baked blush dolce pink foundation and concealer light beige mario badescu face mist zoeva wing liner brush makeup gerard cosmetics skinny dip hydramatte lipstick

I got one of the Milani Baked Blushes in Dolce Pink. These are so pretty! The gold packaging is cute and the pigmentation is insane. You have to be very careful not to put too much on, literally just a dab in the pan with a brush is enough.

After seeing so many positive reviews I also got a foundation from Milani – the Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation and Concealer. I’m always really wary of buying foundation online and despite obviously looking at swatches the shade I bought – 03 Light Beige – is not quite the right shade for me. The lighter shade 01 was not in stock so my options were limited. 03 Light Beige is just a little bit too dark for me and it’s slightly too yellow toned despite the description saying it was for “light skin with neutral undertones”. Notwithstanding the shade issues, the foundation does seem to give good coverage and last all day. I might buy some of The Body Shop’s shade adjusting drops to use with this and see if that improves the shade match. Has anyone tried them and if so, are they any good?

The only skincare item I bought was the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater. I love a good face spray but I don’t like spending a lot of money of them so this one seemed like a nice one to try out!

I also bought another Beauty Blender just so I’ve got one in stock for when my current one gets too manky. Another beauty tool I got was the ZOEVA Rose Golden Vol.2 317 Wing Liner Brush. I already have this brush but in the black and rose gold colour scheme and I love it; it’s such a good shape. I use that one for brow pomade but I wanted to get another one to use for eyeshadow and liner.

Lastly, I finally got a Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick after toying with buying one for so long. I went for the shade ‘Skinny Dip’ and it is gorgeous and I’m so glad I finally bought one! I’ve only worn it twice so far but so far I love the formula; it’s not drying at all and is creamy and pigmented with good lasting power. So pretty much everything you could want from a liquid lipstick. The packaging is cute also, gotta love anything in frosted glass.

That’s everything! Now Blogtober’s over I’ll be back to my usual routine and just posting as and when I can, but hopefully that’ll be at least once a week.

M&S Beauty | Alpha H & Rosie for Autograph

M&S had an offer a few weeks ago with 20% off everything in their Beauty department so this was the perfect opportunity to grab the things I had on my ‘to buy’ list.

alpha h liquid gold rosie for autograph eyeshadow sticksrosie for autograph eyeshadow stick almond eyes sparkle and magicrosie for autograph almond eyes sparkle and magic

I had wanted to try these Rosie for Autograph Cream Eye Shadow Sticks ever since their release. The collection is beautiful with rose gold packaging <3 I wanted to pick up a lipstick too really, but there’s just not many swatches around and I’m pretty particular with my nude shades – I didn’t want to buy yet another lipstick online that just wasn’t what I hoped. I can’t find the collection in any M&S stores near me but I’m hoping it’ll become more widely available in store soon.

The colours I chose are ‘Almond Eyes‘ and ‘Sparkle and Magic‘ and they’re very pretty. Almond Eyes I was hoping would be more pink but it definitely errs on the side of gold. Sparkle and Magic likewise I assumed would be grey, which it is but it has hints of green and brown also.

Alpha H’s Liquid Gold is a repurchase for me and I LOVE this supersize 200ml bottle! So great! And I got it for £32 which is basically the same as the price for the standard 100ml – WINNING. I love this product and had really missed it once my first bottle ran out months ago. It’s a fantastic treatment and lazy product that contains liquorice extract and glycolic acid. When I just can’t be bothered with a long-winded skincare routine in the evening, I can just cleanse my face and wipe Liquid Gold over it and I’m done. It can act as a toner as well as a moisturiser. This shouldn’t be done more frequently than every other evening though. It’s quite strong so I don’t know how sensitive skin would cope but I, with combination/dry skin, get on well with it. It’s brightening and helps clear and keep spots at bay. It’s one I think I’ll always go back to if my skin’s in a crisis.

Topshop Haul

Following on from my ASOS haul, here are the things I’ve picked up recently from Topshop!

I love everything I bought, so happy with the things I’ve bought lately, I feel like I’m really finding my style and taste and buying pieces that are versatile and timeless. Whilst I love Winter dressing, the great thing about Spring/Summer is that you can actually go out in a great outfit and not have to cover it up with a coat and jumper and scarf etc etc! Hooray. I can’t wait to wear these pieces. 🙂

topshop haul bleach jamie jeanstopshop haul moto denim stripe skirttopshop haul satin bomber jacket pinktopshop haul white panel lace shell toptopshop socks 2

I thought these socks would look cute with the Denim Stripe Skirt, popping out the top of some trainers or sandals.

The White Shell Top is absolutely gorgeous, so intricate! It’ll look awesome with the wash of the Bleach Jamie Jeans. The bomber trend is on fire right now and I love this Dusty Pink one, I think it’ll have some lasting power and won’t really go out of style completely. The skirt is pretty tight on me but it’s not available in any local stores for me to go and exchange it for the size up so I’m just going to put up with it and hope I can trim down a bit so it’s looser haha. I got it 20% off so I don’t want to have to reorder the size up for full price 🙁 It’ll be fine, I’ll just have to get used to not breathing when I wear it… 😀 I need to cut down on the cakes anyway…

Beauty Bay Haul | Makeup & Skincare

Some more products I’ve bought via Beauty Bay the past month or so that I thought I’d share with you!

pixi glow mud mask la girl contour stick eye of horus mascarapeter thomas roth max complexion correction pads first aid beauty 5 in 1 age delay eye creamla girl bronzer contour stickeye of horus goddess mascara

Pixi Glow Mud Mask

I’m still yet to try Glow Tonic as I have so many other exfoliants to use up first but I will try it eventually. However I really wanted to try something from the brand so I thought a mask would be fun! The tube was a lot smaller than I expected but upon using it I’ve found you really don’t need much per use so it’s hopefully not going to be as poor value as I first feared. It is an awesome black colour so it’s really fun to use/you look very scary. After leaving it on 15 minutes I can tell it’s got down into my pores as I can see lots of dots all over my nose and cheeks! I can’t credit this with any particular improvement to my skin but it’s nice to use and I think it does get into your pores and give them a clean.

L.A. Girl Velvet Contour Stick in ‘Suede’

This doesn’t appear to be on the website at the time of me writing this but there are some available on Amazon. I liked the idea of a contour stick as they seem like an easy way to contour and will be good for summer where I like to use less powder products. So when I saw this for a fiver I thought this was one to try. It’s quite a warm shade but the pigment is good and it blends out well enough. I need practice using it tbh, but I’m happy with it so far.

Beauty Blender Nude Sponge

This is my first beauty blender! I caved and just had to see what all the fuss was about. I liked the nude colour of this which means it doesn’t look as dirty so quickly. I’ve actually really enjoyed using this so far but I have much more experimenting to do! It’s true it’s very squishy and bouncy which is perfect for bouncing off your face. I’ve found it gives quite a sheer coverage which I’m not overly keen on as I like quite full coverage, however it’s great to go over your makeup with one of these once you’ve built up the coverage you want with your finger or a brush. It just pats it in and takes away any excess which gives a more natural finish. I’ve only used it with foundation so far but I want to try it with the L.A Girl Contour Stick (above) and see how it blends that in!

Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

Again, I can’t see this on the website at the moment so it must have sold out. It’s available from here though. I’d never heard of this brand but I needed a new mascara and this one was reduced a bit so I just went for it. It has a plastic brush which I am not overly fond of; it’s quite rough on the lashes despite being a soft, flexible silicon brush. I wasn’t overwhelmed by the effect of this mascara, it’s fine and does the job but there’s something about the application I just don’t love.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads

My skin was playing up a bit so I wanted to try some stronger acid products as my skin seems to react well to them. What sold me on these pads was that they contain AHA (Glycolic acid) and BHA (Salicylic acid) so you get a real potent mix. They are very strong smelling and not for the faint hearted but I’ve liked them so far. My skin is behaving more lately and as this is the only thing I’ve really changed in my routine (aside from using face masks more regularly) I think they’re having a positive effect.

First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Eye Cream

The other eye cream I’m using will be running out in the next few weeks so I thought I might as well get another one before then. I like the concept of FAB as a brand and this product looked promising. I’ve been using this most mornings and I really like it! It has a soft, velvety quality to it that makes my eye area feel awesome and provides a beautiful base for makeup. Happy with this one. It doesn’t make my eyes water either which is always important to me and my stupidly watery eyes.

Kiko Makeup Haul

When I saw some of the Rebel Romantic limited edition collection from Kiko on a few others’ blogs I fell in LOVE. It is so beautiful. I had been waiting for a while to find an excuse to purchase some more Kiko goodies since I bought an awesome lipstick from them whilst I was on holiday in Barcelona (I did a post on that here). Unfortunately when I placed my order I was gutted to find that the two lipstick shades I would have bought were out of stock 🙁 The lipsticks were probably the thing I was most excited about, however I’m hoping that I’ll be able to buy them in store as Kiko have recently opened a store in Bath, which is near my hometown! Their stores are heavily concentrated in the South East so far, so for one to pop up in Bath is brilliant! Hopefully they will expand further (Bournemouth please Kiko!)
kiko makeup haul unforgettable mascara bronzer blush nail varnish polish smart lipstick (3)kiko makeup haul unforgettable mascara bronzer blush nail varnish polish smart lipstick (2)kiko makeup haul unforgettable mascara bronzer blush nail varnish polish smart lipstick

This product looks stunning, and that along with the fact I don’t actually own a single bronzing powder, I felt justified in getting this. It comes in lovely rose gold packaging and the powder is embossed with a pretty print. The colour is a fairly subtle, terracotta shade (I have the light to medium shade); I think you possibly could go overboard with it and end up looking a bit orange, but you’d have to apply a fair bit! I’ve just read in the description on their website that it is slightly scented with wild rose, so I just sniffed it and it smells divine! Overall I really like it, it gives a light tan to your face where it’s lacking and is beautiful to look at!
I got this blush in the shade Velvety Peach. I wouldn’t really consider it that peach-y, it’s still very pink to me but it does have that coral-ly accent that makes it very wearable and ‘comfort zone‘ for me. I didn’t realise that this would be a cream blush, when I first went to use it I got my blusher brush out and was disappointed when there was virtually no colour pay off on my cheeks lol! I then stuck my finger in and realised my mistake. When applied with your finger it is very pigmented but can be blended nicely into the skin. I’m not one for cream blushers generally, but I hope using this will convert me because again, it comes in the beautiful packaging, and is a lovely colour.
I really wanted a muted grey/green nail colour in my life, and whilst Jade Green is not quite perfect in that it’s not quite grey enough for what I wanted, it’s still a beautiful muted minty green. I haven’t tried the other one yet, it’s supposed to be for a French Manicure but I’m hoping it’ll be quite opaque and I can wear it on its own. I’m happy to have some brilliant nail polishes from a brand that doesn’t test on animals and has a fantastic shade range! I’ll definitely pick up some more in the Bath store whenever I eventually visit.
kiko makeup haul unforgettable mascara bronzer blush nail varnish polish smart lipstick (4)kiko makeup smart lipstick natural neige 901
I haven’t tried this yet as I only keep 1-2 mascaras in use at a time, but I think one of my current one’s will be all dried out soon so I have this is stock ready to go! I got it at a super discounted price too which made it even better. The reviews on the Kiko website are all positive so I hope its a good one. I chose it from Kiko’s vast array of different mascaras because I liked the look of the brush! It’s curved and has bristles as opposed to a plastic wand.

I bought this in the shade 901 Natural Neige, which is a pinky/brown nude. This was great value and I love the simple, sleek packaging. The formula is quite matte, but it does have a sheen which makes it more satin. I find it comparable to the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks, so these are a lovely cruelty free (and better value) alternative to those. I have loved the two different lipstick formulas I have tried from Kiko, so I think they may become a go-to for when I’m in need of a lipstick.
My experience with the Kiko website was a good one. I think I got a better deal as I was a first time customer on the website which gave me free delivery, or £2.00 express delivery, which is what I opted for. This meant my package should arrive within 3-5 days from me placing the order, which it did! I think it arrived on the third day… So it was a good experience. However I would definitely prefer to buy instore in future if I’d have to pay £7.90 for this service; I don’t like waiting 🙁 I’ll have to stock up every time I go to Bath ha 🙂

A Little Boots and Paperchase Stationary Haul

I have been on an absolute spending spree the past couple of weeks. I hope that this has come to an end now as I think I have outspent myself and satisfied those retail urges. There have been so many boosted student discounts around that completely reeled me in! H&M, Topshop, River Island… EVERYWHERE HAS CHARMED ME TO PART WITH MY MONEY. But I shouldn’t complain. I’ve bought some lovely bits! Enough ‘what I bought’ posts for over a week I reckon hahah. Oh deary me.
I’ll begin with a more boring haul. Well, not boring, but fairly standard.
yes to carrots coconut shampoo conditioner haircare nip fab extreme glycolic fix night pads collection concealer (2)
I already use a couple of Yes To skincare products that I’ve been impressed with, so when I saw these on offer in Boots (1/3 off the full price) I knew I wanted to try some of their haircare! The brand uses 95%+ natural ingredients and are cruelty free, what’s not to like! I find the packaging cute too. I’ve been experiencing a bit of an itchy scalp so the Yes To Carrots Dry Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner were perfect. I also got a Yes To Coconut Conditioner to soothe my dry/damaged hair. I’ve used all three already and am very happy with all of them.
I adore the original Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Facial Pads, so I saw these new Glycolic Fix Extreme Night Pads with 1/3 off in Boots too and thought I’d give them a try once my Liquid Gold runs out. However they have a lot to live up to if they’re anywhere near as good as that!
Finally I swiped another Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as it’s so rare to find them in stock you have to grab them while you can!
paperchase post in notes sticky highlighters
In Paperchase I grabbed this cute, nautically striped pad of sticky notes as I’m forever needing to jot things down or make lists, and this is handy just to keep by my bed for those fleeting thoughts you need to note down.
I also picked up these adorable mini highlighters that have cats on! I just think they’re so cute and fun to use, as well as having the practical purpose of helping you in lectures and note-taking 😉 They also have a set with owls instead, equally as sweet, and even bear ones! It’s just too much stationary cuteness.
As I’ve said, I’ve bought rather a lot recently, so I’ll be back with some other clothing and beauty hauls soon. Do you prefer seeing clothes hauls with just pictures of the items, or with the items on? It’s certainly easier to photograph them hanging, but I think I personally prefer seeing clothes on… Let me know what you think.
 Love,
Nicole
